Membership Information
SRC Membership & EA Athletics Affiliation
You do not need to be a member to run with us. The 50p per run fee covers our hire of the Southbank Club on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Becoming a member directly support the clubs, and there a variety of perks available. There are, two different types of membership that our runners may wish to apply for. These are the SRC (Southville Running Club) Membership and EA (England Athletics) Competition Licence.
SRC Membership
Our runners can pay a £4 for annual membership to be part of the club. This money generated from membership funds raised enable us to continue operating on a pay-as-you-go basis.
EA (England Athletics) Competition License
You can also apply for an EA Competition License. This additional card costs £19 per year and allows you to get discounted entry for most races. For most events you will see two costs of entry, as in the example below.
To get the discounted entry you must hold an EA Competition License. The license means that you pay race insurance annually (£19 per year) rather than per race (typically £2 for each race). Therefore you only need to enter nine races per year to save money by having a competition license.
It is very important that you do not apply for a discounted entry if you do not have a valid EA Competition License. Race organisers may disqualify you from a race, you will not be insured in the event of an accident and this will also effect the reputation of our club in the local running community. If entering at the discounted rate, is is recommended that you also race in a green club t-shirt or vest.
The £20 renewal fee is due in April and is payable online. Those who have applied for their first EA card between January and March will not have to pay a renewal fee until April the following year, thus giving you up to three free months.
It is club policy not to issue an EA Competition License to runners who do not firstly have a SRC Membership Card. You can apply for both cards at the same time which will cost you £23 or if you only want club membership and no Competition License, you'll just pay £4 p/a.
How do I apply for these?
